UW-Madison is known for its beautiful campus, and Observatory Hill provides some of the area’s best views. The top of the hill overlooks Lake Mendota, Picnic Point, and much of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve. However, there is more to Observatory Hill than its stunning sights. Along the grassy hill, you can spread out a blanket, enjoy a peaceful picnic, read a book underneath the shade of a tree, or do homework. You will find Observatory Hill next to Waters Residence Hall and across from Washburn Observatory.
